Ron Baron

Ron Baron is known for creating elegant sculptures that transform everyday objects gleaned from a variety of sources. He describes his creative process as similar to a "cultural archaeologist" -culling an array of used artifacts that "reflect personal identity and the society that produced them." As a result, his studio looks much like a thrift store or garage sale with shelves of collected forlorn items.

Baron has produced bronze sculpture for 18 years. He has won numerous awards including, the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, Public Art Fund Grant, Greenwall Foundation Grant, Pollock-Krasner Foundatiotion Grant, Marie Walsh Sharpe Residency, several Yaddo Endowed Residencies and a Lila Wallace Endowed Residency at the Monet Museum in Giverny, France. Baron lives in Williamsburg Brooklyn, NY and teaches Sculpture at the School of Visual Arts, NYC.
