A composition by Eugene Daub to commemorate the passage of the expedition called the Corps of Discovery through the Kansas City Territory. The statue features not only Merriwether Lewis and William Clark but also Sacajewea, a Shoshone guide and interpreter; and York, an African-American slave. Also represented is Lewis' dog, Seaman.  The statue will overlook the Missouri and Kau rivers. The monument will be the central feature of the renovated  Case Park on Quality Hill between 8th & 10th streets.  The explorers passed through it on their way west in the early 1800's opening the way for expansion.  The statue's location will approximate that of the Lewis & Clark Campsite.  The figures are 9 feet tall standing & sitting on a rocky promontory which sits on a massive granite base 16 feet wide. The total height is also approximately 16 feet.  The William T. Kemper Foundation is handling the cost of the monument, with the aid of the Public Improvements Advisory Commission and private donations.

NOTE FROM THE ARTIST: Artworks Foundry is in the process of casting the monument in bronze. I have worked with Artworks Foundry exclusively for over 9 years.  They have always done extremely fine work, from mold making and wax casting to the final bronze and plating. It's an extremely talented crew...I trust them implicitly.

Central Panel of a Triptych
Created by Eugene Daub for the National Park Service in Guam.
Daub sculpted this triptych and 2 other large reliefs at Artworks Foundry. Artworks' engineered and constructed large steel panels for the triptychs curved wall. Each panel was 5' x 5' and sculpted in record time (3 weeks), one week per panel by Daub with the help of GHEI, an Artworks' sculpture employee.

NOTE FROM THE ARTIST: The rush job went like clockwork, Artworks provided the job site, technical assistance - even and assistant, to meet a daunting deadline. We went to Guam and installed all the pieces. The whole job sailed without a hitch.
